ZTE, the Chinese tech giant follows the world trend when it comes to launching Metaverse-related brands.

Chinese telecommunications equipment maker ZTE has successfully registered several English trademarks related to Metaverse.

ZTE Corporation is a global leader in telecommunications and information technology. Founded in 1985 and listed on both the Hong Kong and Shenzhen Stock Exchanges, the company has been committed to providing innovative technologies and integrated solutions for global operators, government and enterprise, and consumers from over 160 countries across the globe.

This time, news of a trademark application came from Chinese telecommunications equipment maker ZTE. The company says it has filed a metaverse-oriented trademark application. In addition, their brands include scientific and communication equipment.

The state-owned Chinese telecom giant is partly seen by the US as a threat to national security, leading to President Joe Biden’s ban on ZTE from receiving new equipment licenses in the country.

On Tuesday, a US court ruled that ZTE should be allowed to end five years of probation for violating US sanctions for illegally shipping US technology to Iran and North Korea.

To put it bluntly, the concept of Metaverse was considered at the national level at two Chinese sessions last month, the country’s most important political meetings. In addition, the National Intellectual Property Office said it received at least 16,000 trademark applications in February related to the word “metaverse”.
