Visa Launches Bitcoin and Cryptocurrency Cards in Latin America

Visa, one of the largest payments companies in the world, has announced a series of crypto-enabled cards in partnership with several fintech companies in the Latin American region.

These cards will allow users to spend crypto, buy crypto where Visa cards are accepted, and also get crypto back through various partners in the region.

Visa has partnered with several Latin American startups, including Lemon Cash and Satoshi Tango in Argentina, Crypto.com, Alterbank and Zro Bank in Brazil.

The card’s functions will include paying with crypto, buying crypto through Visa-enabled stores, and being able to get cash back on bitcoin purchases.

Borja Martel Seward, co-founder of Lemon Cash, said:

In the context of Latin America, cryptocurrency is a concrete solution to improve people’s lives. At Lemon, we want to contribute to the crypto revolution in the entire region and we offer 2% Bitcoin cashback on all transactions made with Visa.

Mastercard, a direct competitor of Visa, has also shown an interest in the Latin American market, having signed a partnership with Mercado Libre, one of the largest retailers in the region.
