Senate Candidate Plans to Make Dogecoin Legal Currency in California

Timothy Ursich, a candidate for the US Senate from California wants Dogecoin to be legal tender in California.

Democratic Party candidate Ursich is running for the June 7 primaries. The Senate candidate is an orthopedic and sports medicine specialist who is also interested in blockchain technology.

The candidate revealed that if elected, he would draft a bill that would propose Dogecoin as legal currency in California. He also promised to support cryptocurrencies and promote mass adoption of new financial technologies.

“I urge Billy Markus and Elon Musk to support my US Senate campaign in California,” he tweeted.

California is becoming more crypto-friendly as the state’s Governor, Gavin Newsom, signed an executive order last month that lays the groundwork for regulating the crypto industry.

Dogecoin saw phenomenal growth in the first half of 2021 but a severe decline in the second half of the year. The meme-coin hit an all-time high of $0.73 last May and fell on the day Elon Musk appeared on Saturday Night Live (SNL).
