Belgian footballer who plays for Manchester City Kevin De Bruyne has partnered with Singapore-based crypto exchange Phemex to become their brand ambassador.
One of the soccer stars in very high form at the moment, Kevin De Bruyne has revealed his interest in the digital asset sector has recently been growing. The Manchester City star said he is “delighted” to partner with Phemex and the platform’s team, and will help in part to “develop and explore the future of cryptocurrency.“
In addition to taking on the role of global ambassador at the exchange, the Belgian player will also participate in educational projects that aim to highlight the value of cryptocurrencies to football fans.
Phemex CEO Jack Tao describes De Bruyne as “a well-rounded footballer who constantly adapts to match situations and executes the right style of play.“
“We look forward to working together to showcase how our comprehensive and easy-to-use platform helps users get ahead and break through their financial journey.”
However, Kevin De Bruyne is one of the most influential players in football today. Last week, he helped his side Manchester City win their sixth Premier League title and in November he will captain the Belgian national team for the World Cup in Qatar.
The crypto industry has successfully interacted with the world of football in recent times. Last year, former FC Barcelona midfielder Andrés Iniesta promoted crypto exchange Binance on Instagram and Twitter, albeit somewhat controversially.
In early 2022, Neymar revealed he was an NFT enthusiast by purchasing a Bored Ape Yacht Club digital collection for almost 160 ETH. At the time of the transaction, it was worth more than $480,000.
